I would categorize the tools that one should improve into the following four types
a)Confidence:Start building up your confidence. If you face hesitation in public speaking then your academic life is the best time to kick it away.
Try participating in those extra curricular activities or competitions in which you have to speak or perform in front of a small audience. Your stage fright will slowly disappear and you will no more face any sort of difficulty in a situation where audience is involved. And while you are in front of the recruiter for the big interview, consider him as if he is just an audience. Remember, being confident is the key to deliver your maximum potential in the interview.
b) Body Language: It is believed that the body language plays a vital role in creating an impact on the listener. If the body language is not good the impact would be negative and if the body language is charismatic then the impact would be positive. Record you class presentation or the video of a group activity and analyze it for any bad moves you make during your conversation. Sometimes the extensive repetition of the same move results in irritation. Try to point out the odd moves and gestures you make while you speak. And start looking for more room for improvement. Carefully observe those public speakers, celebrities, politicians and even your teachers, friends and relatives whose body language seems charming. Start adopting their moves. Practice them for some time and again analyze if they suit you.Repeat the whole process and in almost a year you will be person with the best body language on campus.
c)Leadership: Now a days the trends have changed. And even for technical jobs corporations now look for leadership abilities. The reason of this is during the career even a technical employee have to lead various teams at different occasions. I usually find people saying that I don't posses leadership qualities and I can never get those. My friend no one in this world is born to be a leader all the prominent leaders were grown to be leaders.So stop thinking that you can never become good in leadership qualities. Everyone can. The only things that you would need is a platform and some guidance. The platform can be any technical or non technical society in your university. Become a part of the one that is of your personal interest or the one about which you think will teach you a thing or two that will help you in your career. Aim for a high position in the hierarchy of that society. Even if you don't succeed to get to that post you will learn a lot about being a good leader.
